The Matrix 5H152-50 and 5H153-50 high-density 10/100Base-TX switching modules for the Matrix E5 chassis provide 48 10/100 Ethernet ports via RJ45 and RJ21 connectors, respectively and one flexible expansion slot. The optional expansion slots may be populated with 2-port Gigabit uplink modules, 5PIMS, which enable connections to end users, servers and backbone devices. Both modules are standards-based, supporting the IEEE 802.1Q VLAN specification, and are capable of priority queuing, assuring that high-priority traffic, such as voice and video applications, is delivered.
While possessing a strong feature set, these cost-effective, high-density modules also deliver the throughput and scalability required to support emerging bandwidth-intensive multimedia applications. With these modules, the Matrix E5 helps customers transition from stackable or standalone switching products to a more long-term solution. Specifically designed to scale to the demands of high-usage and converged networks, both the 5H152-50 and 5H153-50 incorporate line-rate forwarding performance. And because the modules have the ability to snoop IGMP packets and distribute multicast traffic, they can allow for more efficient use of bandwidth when running voice and video applications.
